Inani Sea Beach
The world’s longest 120-kilometer sandy sea beach is Cox’s Bazar. Among the stretch of beach from Cox’s Bazar to Teknaf, Inani Beach is the most beautiful and attractive. In a word, Inani can be called a paradise of nature. Inani Sea Beach, or Inani Beach, is located in the Ukhiya Upazila of Cox’s Bazar district. The crystal-clear blue water, abundance of coral stones, and breathtaking sunsets draw tourists to this beach. This coastal area of the Bay of Bengal in Bangladesh became a tourist attraction in the late 20th century. The natural coral and rock formations from Inani Beach to Teknaf protect the shore from sea erosion.
Inani Beach is located just 33 km south of Cox’s Bazar city. It is 27 km from Cox’s Bazar Beach and only 15 km from Himchari. During low tide, visitors can see coral rocks resembling those found on Saint Martin’s Island. The abundance of coral stones makes Inani Beach look more structured and scenic. Unlike Cox’s Bazar Beach, the sea here is not as turbulent. Many tourists consider the afternoon the ideal time to visit Inani Beach.
Previously, to reach Inani Beach from Cox’s Bazar, one had to travel via the Teknaf road and then take a semi-paved and dirt road through Sonarpara. However, that road no longer exists. Instead, in 1992, the Engineering Corps of the Bangladesh Army constructed an 84-km-long Marine Drive Road from Kolatoli to Teknaf. Now, visitors travel to Inani Beach via this scenic route. Although the old semi-paved and dirt roads are gone, the beauty remains as enchanting as ever.
Inani Beach is also home to several scientific shrimp hatcheries. Additionally, rows of betel nut trees line the area. On the way to the beach, the combination of lush forests, mountains, birds chirping, and the roaring waves of the sea creates an unforgettable experience. The presence of rows of casuarina trees (locally known as “jhau bagan”) has made it a popular shooting location for films and dramas. Due to its rocky shoreline, many also refer to Inani Beach as the “Rocky Beach.”
When to go |
---|
Tourists visit Cox’s Bazar throughout the year. However, the appearance of the sea beach changes with every season—whether it is winter, monsoon, spring, or summer. The beach also takes on different shades from dawn to midday, offering a unique experience at every hour. Every day, countless local and international tourists visit this stunning coastline. However, the best time to visit Cox’s Bazar is from October to March, as there is less rainfall and the weather remains pleasant, making it a peak season for travelers. |
Special advice |
Before traveling to Cox’s Bazar, make sure to check the weather forecast. Every year, numerous accidents occur while swimming in the sea, sometimes leading to fatalities. Avoid going too deep into the water—stay as close to the shore as possible and remain cautious. Strong waves can cause you to lose balance, putting you in a life-threatening situation. When purchasing or carrying anything, always bargain for the best price. Do not take photos of locals without their permission, and avoid getting into arguments with them. Keep the beach clean by disposing of waste, such as plastic wrappers and bottles, in designated bins. If necessary, consider carrying a life jacket. Coral rocks often have sharp edges and are covered with shells and barnacles, so be careful when stepping on them. Do not jump on the rocks, as corals are naturally sharp and can cause injuries.

Special Precautions |
Staying in the pine forest after sunset can be risky, so it’s best to leave the area before evening sets in. There are several hidden canals between Kolatoli Beach and Laboni Beach. The Cox’s Bazar Beach is approximately 200 meters (660 feet) wide during high tide and 400 meters (1,300 feet) wide during low tide. During low tide, quicksand surfaces, making it extremely dangerous. Many tourists lose their lives due to carelessness while walking into these areas during low tide. It is advisable to avoid swimming during low tide. To stay safe, always follow the security checkpoints’ signals before entering the water. The lifeguard posts raise red and green flags based on the tide conditions. Red-yellow and green flags indicate a safe time for swimming.
