Chingri Falls
The name Chingri Jharna, meaning Shrimp Waterfall, originated from the local belief that the waterfall once abounded with shrimp, though there is no definitive evidence to support this claim.
When Will You Go |
The full beauty of the waterfall is best seen during the monsoon season. However, due to heavy rains, the hilly paths become very dangerous to traverse. Therefore, the winter season is most suitable for visiting. Nonetheless, you can travel here at any time of the year. |
Special Advice |
You can visit this fountain when you visit Bagalek. Overnight at Bagale and leave for Jharna in the morning. Photographs of locals may not be taken without permission. Photographs of locals may not be taken without permission. Avoid getting into arguments with locals. It is not proper to throw shells or plastic items and bottles anywhere. Since you have to go for a trek of about 4-5 hours in remote areas, try to carry small bags and light things as much as possible. Carry enough water, light food and first aid supplies.

The rocks you climb on your way to the waterfall are very slippery and sharp, making it easy to slip and have an accident, so you must walk carefully. Additionally, if the monsoon water trapped above suddenly rushes down, it can sweep you away and slam you against the rocks. There is no electricity here except for solar power, so bringing a power bank and a flashlight is crucial. For mobile network service, Robi and Airtel are suitable here. Littering is punishable by a fine, so dispose of trash in designated areas. Taking photos, videos, or flying drones is strictly prohibited. The water from Chingri Jharna is not drinkable and should only be used for washing hands and face. If you need drinking water, you can use the water from Lata Jharna. |
