Jessore Road, which is located in Naldanga, Kaliganj. It is called “Jesore Road” in local parlance. It extends from Kaliganj in Jessore to Kalighat on the banks of the Ganges in Kolkata, India.
It is known that zamindar Kali Poddar built this road to fulfill his mother’s wish to bathe in the Ganges. As hundreds of refugees took refuge on both sides of the road during the 1971 liberation war, American poet Alan Ginsburg wrote a poem called “September on Jessore Road” and Indian singer Moushumi Bhowmik translated the poem and composed a song.
