Kolatoli Sea Beach

Kolatoli Sea Beach

Kolatoli Beach is located just 3 kilometers from Cox’s Bazar city. Since it is within walking distance from Dolphin Mor, tourists staying nearby often visit Kolatoli Beach. Following Kolatoli Beach, you will pass Laboni Point and Sugandha Beach before reaching Cox’s Bazar Main Beach. Kolatoli Beach is one of the longest sea beaches in the world and is part of the vast Cox’s Bazar coastline. To ease crowding at the main tourist spots, the local government has developed Kolatoli Beach as an alternative attraction. Many people also refer to it as Dolphin Beach. It is a popular destination for swimming, water sports, and enjoying stunning sunrises and sunsets.

When to go
Tourists visit Cox’s Bazar throughout the year. However, the appearance of the sea beach changes with every season—whether it is winter, monsoon, spring, or summer. The beach also takes on different shades from dawn to midday, offering a unique experience at every hour. Every day, countless local and international tourists visit this stunning coastline. However, the best time to visit Cox’s Bazar is from October to March, as there is less rainfall and the weather remains pleasant, making it a peak season for travelers.
Special advice
Before traveling to Cox’s Bazar, check the weather forecast. Every year, many accidents occur while swimming in the sea. To stay safe, avoid going too deep—stay as close to the shore as possible and remain cautious. Strong waves can make you lose balance, putting you in a life-threatening situation. Avoid talking to strangers on the beach late at night, especially unknown women, as it may lead to trouble. Even if you are with a female companion, staying on the beach late at night can sometimes be risky. When buying or transporting anything, negotiate the price beforehand. Do not take photos of locals without their permission, and avoid getting into arguments with them. Help keep the beach clean—do not litter by throwing plastic waste, fruit peels, or bottles. If needed, carry a life jacket for safety. Be extra careful while handling corals, as they are often sharp.
  • Keep a copy of your voter ID or birth certificate.
  • When taking a break, riding a horse, driving a bike, or shopping, be sure to negotiate the price properly.
Special Precautions
There are several hidden canals between Laboni Point and Kolatoli Beach. The width of Cox’s Bazar beach varies, reaching 200 meters (660 feet) during high tide and 400 meters (1300 feet) during low tide. During low tide, sandbars emerge, making the area dangerous. Most tourists unfortunately lose their lives during low tide due to carelessness. It is advisable to avoid swimming on the beach during low tide. By following the signals from the safety posts, you can stay safe while swimming. Red and green flags are raised according to the tide timings at the posts. Green flags indicate safe conditions for swimming.
