In the Ruma Upazila of Bandarban district in Bangladesh, the Jadipai waterfall is located just one and a half kilometers from Keokradong, the second highest peak in Bangladesh, via Passing Para. It is one of the widest waterfalls in Bangladesh and is also known locally as the “Queen of Waterfalls” in Bandarban. The surroundings are lush and green, with tall hills of various sizes. This waterfall has clear water almost all year round, but it reaches its full capacity during the rainy season. The clear water streams from Keokradong, Jongshia, and Jadipai converge and cascade down about 200 feet over black rocks to form the Jadipai waterfall, eventually merging with the Sangu River. Passing Para, the highest village in Bandarban, is a 40-minute walk along a steep path, passing through a bamboo gate to reach Jadipai Para. From Jadipai Para, it’s another 30-minute walk to the waterfall. Once you cross Jadipai Para, the path becomes flat and less hazardous. However, the area near the waterfall is very slippery and steep, especially during the rainy season, making it extremely treacherous.
When Will You Go |
During monsoon nature surrounds itself with its own beauty but during this time the fountain and its surroundings are very scary. However, if you want to go, during the rainy season, jeeps going to Ruma often go up to Kaikxyangjiri and then you have to travel by engine boat for more than 1 hour to Rumabazar. At this time, you have to walk the entire way from Rumabazar to Jadipai Jharna.Travel is safest and most convenient in winter as the roads are unpaved and muddy, making transportation difficult. The best time to visit Jadipai Jharna is considered to be from the beginning of November to the month of March next year. |
Special Advice |
During the dry season, you can reach the summit of Keokradong Mountain from Boga Lake by taking a chandergari (local vehicle) and then proceed to Jadipai Waterfall from there. It is important to arrange the vehicle rental before starting your journey. Taking photos of the locals without permission is not allowed, and it is advised to avoid any arguments with them. Do not litter by throwing peels, plastic items, or bottles everywhere. Since the journey will take you through a remote area for about 4-5 hours, try to carry as light a load as possible. Be sure to take a high-quality trekking bag that will not cause your back to sweat even during long treks and will not strain your waist. Carry a rain cover and a large plastic sheet as well. Additionally, pack trekking pants, trekking sandals, dry food, hand gloves, a headlamp, 2-3 T-shirts, shorts, trousers, a trekking pole, 1-2 pairs of socks, a toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, a towel, sufficient water, basic first aid supplies and medications (including for headaches and gas), oral rehydration salts, glucose, and mosquito repellent cream. The paths in Jadipai Para are very steep and dangerous, so it will be helpful to have two sticks with you during the journey.

Special precautions |
Before heading to Jadipai Waterfall, you must obtain a permit from the army, as traveling there without one is prohibited. The Bangladesh Army strictly forbids traveling on the roof of a jeep during the journey. There is no electricity here except for solar power, so it is crucial to carry a power bank and a torch. For mobile network coverage, Teletalk, Robi, and Airtel are suitable. To avoid unnecessary risks and prevent the recurrence of previous fatal incidents, the local administration strictly prohibits swimming or bathing in the lake. |
