Bir Shreshtha Lance Naik Munshi Abdur Rauf, Who Lives In Eternal Sleep On A Small Island In Kaptai Lake At Burighat In Naniarchar, Rangamati District. A Unique Expression Of His Valor Is The Inscription On The Tombstone, “Thou Durjoy, Fearless Deathless Soul”.

It Is Known That On April 20, 1971, A Part Of The 8Th East Bengal Regiment Was Fighting Against The Pakistani Invading Forces In Burighat Chingri Khal Area Of ​​Mahalachari Police Station In Rangamati, Chittagong Hill Tracts. That Day, The Pakistani Invasion Forces Suddenly Surrounded The Freedom Fighters With Three Launches Loaded With Heavy Weapons And Two Speed Boats. In This Attack, Munshi Abdur Rauf Fought The Enemy Alone With A Machine Gun And Helped All His Comrades To Escape To Safety. Two Launches And A Speed Boat Of The Invading Forces Were Sunk In The Fighting, And Two Platoon Soldiers Were Also Killed. Munshi Abdur Rauf Was Martyred By A Mortar Fired By Sudden Pak Invasion Forces. Later, Dayal Chakma, A Local Resident Of Burighat Bhangamura Area, Recovered His Body And Buried It On A Small Island In Kaptai Lake.
